SWCF donation schemes are unique from those generally followed by NGOs since the needs and expectations of the uniformed community from the donors or for that matter from the SWCF are different. To a soldier, immaterial of the degree of hardship either due to physical incapacitation or monetary needs, it is the self-esteem, dignity and pride that will always remain supreme and we value this aspect more than anything else.
SWCF donation policy thus goes beyond monetary benefits to touch and win the heart and mind of the end user. Donors must understand this factor.
We expect the donors to be more gracious and willing for intellectual donation or monetary donation or service donation rather than being overtly suspicious or prejudiced (though it is but natural to harbor such feelings in the present prevailing practices being often adopted while dealing with disbursement of donations/welfare funds).
Donors are also requested NOT to hurt the sentiments of any `Defenders of the Nation’ or the community at large, if they feel that money donated will not reach the beneficiary. For them the rule is simple DO NOT GO beyond this and they must simply NOT DONATE on this site.
HOW DOES SWO-INDIA HELP?
SWCF has formulated a DONATION POLICY that encompasses pride, transparency and integrity in all welfare schemes.
SWCF endeavors to closely work with the end users directly through the Service HQs/Medical Units/Next of Kin/Children of the Martyrs or Commanding Officers. It follows the chain of command to reach the beneficiaries .This is the time tested effective system of reaching the target and getting a feedback.
We are duty bound to ensure that the DONATION meant for our brave and needy soldiers/Ex-Servicemen reach the beneficiaries without the slightest delay and wherein records are reflected on our website simultaneously/receipts and certificates generated.

WHY THE FUND HAS BEEN LAUNCHED?
The rate of operational deployments and the nature of those deployments are resulting in a much higher rate of casualties across the defence forces – fatal and non fatal, physical and mental – than has been since the Kargil Conflict and ongoing terrorism activities across the country.
Unfortunately we must anticipate that there will be a marked increase in the number of casualties and thus welfare needs over a longer term of period and that we will be unable to resource them properly from our existing charitable funds, which are fully committed to supporting existing welfare needs. Hence the absolute necessity for launching this appeal.

SURELY IT IS THE GOVERNMENT’S RESPONSIBILITY TO SUPPORT INJURED SOLDIERS AND THEIR FAMILIES?
Whilst the immediate and short-term 'duty of care' for wounded soldiers lies wholly with the Ministry of Defence and thereafter with appropriate Government Departments such as Health, Social Security and Employment, the SWCF will always be at the heart of the recovery of any injured Indian soldier and thus must be in a position to offer the best level of care and support wherever, whenever and for as long as it is needed. As a social welfare organization this is absolutely central to our ethos.
WHAT WILL THE PROCEEDS BE USED FOR?
The Fund will enable the SWCF to provide:
- Render immediate support to the families of those killed in action by promptly responding to problems of bereavement and hardship.
- Support those wounded or injured in operations, particularly those who have had to leave the Army; to assist in finding them new employment and to help them become active family and community members.
- Support the families of those seriously wounded or injured in prolonged periods of medical recovery/procedures.
